I’ve been thinking about the call lately. The call is just one of those topics that sparks interest. It is something that excites. It catches peoples’ attention. When you begin to talk about the call you’re speaking of passion, destiny, and something that is usually bigger than life. People like that.
Often times when we hear ‘call’ we think of something that we do, or rather, must do. “What do you want to accomplish?” “What do you want to do for God?” The questions of future and life all surround what we feel we must do and desire to do before we pass from this life to the next. It drives us. It affirms us. These works we complete are what measures us better or worse than the person running his race next to us.
What we miss in the midst of all of these great intentions and world of ideas and perceptions is the quest to be. We all have someone to become. To become should precede to do. We are sons not slaves.
When we begin to understand who we are in the eyes of God, the focus no longer becomes what we do. What we do will naturally flow out of who we are. Instead, many of us strive to do something so we can become somebody. This is wrong. It is opposite of how God sees it and designed our lives to look like.
Let go of the plow in your hands, and for a moment..just a moment..lift your eyes to your Creator who holds this world (and yours included) in His hand. He does not need you to do anything for Him. He just wants His reflection to be echoed from within your life. His Being in your being.
Realize that your end marks His beginning.
