The Spirit Guides

8 Apr

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives… (Galatians 5:16)

What a healthy reminder.

1. Myself; when I guide my life I am clinging on to my life which causes me to lose it.

2. Others; when others guide my life I am led by opinions and human points of view which causes the drowning out of the voice of God.

3. Circumstances; when I allow circumstances to guide my life I am like a wave tossed in the sea which causes me to be unstable.

BUT when I allow the Spirit to guide me He will guide me into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell me what He has heard. He will tell me about the future.

He’s a Giver

16 Jan

He gives:

  1. Grace to the weak
  2. Faith to those whose grip is slipping
  3. Encouragement to tiring ones
  4. Love to the overshadowed
  5. Joy when we look at Him
  6. Sanity in the midst of the storm
  7. Victory to those who persevere
  8. Anointing to the broken
  9. Authority to the submitted
  10. Calling to the responding
  11. Fire on the offering
  12. Freedom to those who cry out
  13. Provision to the ones who rely
  14. Promotion to those who are humble
  15. And much much more..

Cause

5 Dec

Random thought while I should be finishing a paper..

I am beginning to see more and more that a cause has to be communicated and given in order to see effect. People are willing to give – to invest themselves fully. But they are waiting to be given the opportunity. I think many more would go “all in” if given the chance. Instead, we are only given small chances and low-risk opportunities. There is no satisfaction in this. This type of play only results in the same outcomes. What was done in years past will not move forward the future.

I see such a desire in many young leaders to make an impact in the world. They realize that time is short, that their time is upon them. Many are full of faith to move mountains – some of them have gotten tired in the climb. Many have stepped out on the water – yet some have been engulfed in the waves. They have taken their eyes off the One. Many are moving forward in the call of God yet sadly some have fallen to the wayside. I hope and pray that they may find strength to get back on their feet and pursue the One who is worth it all. The One we are making famous.

Earthly & Eternally

24 Oct

One of the things I have begun to realize is that the focus of our heart makes us so much alike or different from the person next to us, believer or unbeliever. It may not be that the other person does not love Jesus Christ, is not holy, or is not filled with the Spirit. They may have passion for God and compassion for people. They can be driven and have a fire for the harvest. But, in the midst of these great attributes, if one is not eternally minded than these godly pros are still limited to earthly understanding, logic, and views.

The eternally minded person fixes his eyes on the things to come while fully investing himself in the present for the glory of God. He carries his cross because he knows that there lies true freedom. He binds himself to the will of God, laying aside all of his own desires and ambitions. He is willing to give his life for others; not just in words, but in action, time, and decisions. He is not selfish because there is none of self left to hold on to. He has discovered the beauty of what it means to know Him as Father and Lord. He lives in this earthly body knowing the eternal Christ as friend and master – the Lamb and the Lion.

Moments of Definition

27 Sep

There are moments in life that define; these gaps are times of opportunity that shape us along our course to destiny.

Defining moments are moments of refining. It is in times of extreme heat that impurities rise to the surface, water reaches its boiling point, and metal is able to be molded. There would be no pure gold if not for the defining moment of refining, the most beautiful of all jewelry would not be in its exemplifying state, nor would we be able to enjoy a good pasta! The breaking down of original shape is needed for future flexibility, and flexibility is needed for use.

Quick Late Night Thought

26 Sep

I so often find myself running in a pointless direction, busy without a legitimate cause, and focusing on a shadow. Many times these are camouflaged by religiosity or even good intentions. When I finally drop it all out of frustration and fall on my knees, God awaits me there. As a matter of fact, He has been there for quite sometime – waiting on me. When I frustratingly ask Him what is wrong He only responds with a burst of laughter, coming from genuine joy, and smiles while responding that He is found at the end of me. I look behind me and then back at Him returning His smile, realizing I am at that literal place right now. So I ask Him what I should do next. He responds, saying, “Stop doing for a desire to be.”

The Call to Be

16 Sep

I’ve been thinking about the call lately. The call is just one of those topics that sparks interest. It is something that excites. It catches peoples’ attention. When you begin to talk about the call you’re speaking of passion, destiny, and something that is usually bigger than life. People like that.

Often times when we hear ‘call’ we think of something that we do, or rather, must do. “What do you want to accomplish?” “What do you want to do for God?” The questions of future and life all surround what we feel we must do and desire to do before we pass from this life to the next. It drives us. It affirms us. These works we complete are what measures us better or worse than the person running his race next to us.

What we miss in the midst of all of these great intentions and world of ideas and perceptions is the quest to be. We all have someone to become. To become should precede to do. We are sons not slaves.

When we begin to understand who we are in the eyes of God, the focus no longer becomes what we do. What we do will naturally flow out of who we are. Instead, many of us strive to do something so we can become somebody. This is wrong. It is opposite of how God sees it and designed our lives to look like.

Let go of the plow in your hands, and for a moment..just a moment..lift your eyes to your Creator who holds this world (and yours included) in His hand. He does not need you to do anything for Him. He just wants His reflection to be echoed from within your life. His Being in your being.

Realize that your end marks His beginning.
